Save Money with Soft Water
Hard water causes everything from crusted faucets and showerheads, to reduced water flow, to a reduction in the lifespan of your water-using appliances. By adding a water softener to your home, you can eliminate these problems. Plus, you’ll be saving money in the process. Below is a list of reasons why a water softener in your home just makes sense (and cents!)
Cleaner clothes and dishes for less!
According to the Water Quality Research Association, “consumers can cut back on dish and laundry detergent use by 50 percent or more and lower washing machine temperatures from hot to cold just by using softened water,” (saving energy). “In dishwashers, areas with very hard water can cut detergent use by more than 50 percent after softening and get the same results.”1
Increase the lifespan of your appliances
Hard water creates a crusty build-up of scales which you’ll see around your faucets and showerheads. This build-up also occurs inside your pipes and can restrict water flow to appliances while impeding your water heater and increasing the energy needed to heat your water. This scale build-up also wears your appliances more quickly and becomes a source of costly repairs. Additionally, it leads to staining in your showers and sinks, requiring a lot of additional cleaning (and cleaning products) to remove it. Soft water stops scale at its source!
Reduce energy bills
When scale builds up in your pipes and it’s hard for water to flow through, your appliances won’t work as efficiently, which leads to higher energy bills. As mentioned above, with a water softener you’ll also see decreased heating bills since you won’t need to heat water to as high of temperatures in order to remove stains or effectively clean your clothes.
Save money on household products
Hard water does not lather well, causing you to use extra soap, while increasing your water usage. You also will be buying soaps and detergents more frequently. You’ll also buy more cleaners to get rid of stubborn hard water stains.
