Soak Up Relaxation this Summer…at Home

Staycation

School is out, eLearning is complete, and we’re ready to unwind! Don’t think you have to travel far this summer–staycations are still in style, even post-pandemic. Orlando is always full of opportunities to just get away without actually getting away.

While you may feel as though you’ve spent too much time at home over the past 18 months, staycations can still be a worthwhile way to enjoy yourself without the stress of work or school. While minimalizing travel expenses, planning, and the stress of traveling (nobody misses the TSA line, trust us), you can still enjoy all that Orlando and Florida have to offer while sleeping in the comfort of your own bed.

Where To?

Have you thought about a trip to Kissimmee and the Gaylord Palms Resort? Get out and explore the small-scale replica of the Castillo de San Marcos and the St. Augustine Atrium. Enjoy delicious food on an indoor lagoon at Moor.

Looking for unique feasts? Orlando’s B-Line Diner at the Hyatt Regency can keep you fed any time of day, without a long drive or wait. Highball & Harvest offers delicious craft cocktails and savory seafood.

Orlando and Central Florida are about more than the mouse and minions. You can play hometown tourist inexpensively by visiting locations such as Kings Bowl Orlando, Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf, the Crayola Experience, or go canoeing and kayaking at Wekiwa Springs. Orlando on the Cheap has many great ideas for enjoying our hometown on a budget.

Homebound

Of course, there’s no doubt that your home is the most comfortable place in Florida; after all, you made it that way. So, why not stay home and enjoy that comfort in new ways?

You can institute theme days into your staycation, with friendly competitions such as building your own indoor mini-golf courses (then see who has the best score), fort building, or even have bake-offs.

Planning an outdoor camping experience in the backyard can be fun, but make sure family members aren’t constantly walking in and out of the house. Leaving doors and/or windows open for periods of time during the summer can make your air conditioning system work harder, with the influx of hot air coming in and cold air escaping. Set up your campsite a good distance from your outdoor air conditioning unit to lessen the noise and avoid any possibility of the unit becoming blocked from fresh air (thus decreasing the unit’s efficiency).

Before the Orlando weather gets too hot and your excitement runs cold, plan for your routine air conditioning maintenance appointment with Rainaldi so you can be sure your home will stay comfortable during your staycation, no matter the heat index outside.
